There are 2 points I would like explained. 1. What is the difference between “soul” and “spirit”, (Heb. 4:12 & 1 Thess. 5″23) which could potentially play into the debate on being killed the 2nd time on judgement day. Are we raised, then “soul and body are destroyed in gehenna” but the spirit lives on in eternal torment or are we raised and both the soul and body are destroyed for ever in the lake of fire/second death. 2. If the lake of fire is a second death for both soul (and spirit) and body then why is it that the beast and false prophet when thrown into the lake of fire are “tormented for ever and ever”. Also, Satan is cast into the lake of fire but it does not specify that he is tormented forever. Does he get to be destroyed (second death) and the false prophet and beast are the only ones of all creation that are tormented for ever and ever. It seems to me that no matter which stance one might lean toward in the debate between a. everlasting torment and b. annihilation that there are some hard to explain points. 🙂
